Amelia’s Closet serves individuals and families in Olney and throughout the Philadelphia area by offering provisions of food, clothing, and other basic necessities. By combining faithful compassion with practical support, we strive to act as the hands and feet of Christ to help those in need by embodying the Gospel in action.
About Amelia's Closet
Amelia’s Closet is a donation-based clothing closet + food pantry that was founded both to pay homage to Pastor Alex's late wife and Oasis City Church co-founder, Amelia, and to build upon the Church’s existing compassion efforts. From the annual Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway to the August Bookbag Giveaway, Oasis City Church has spent more than 30 years working to fulfill scripture’s call to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and provide for those in need through intentional, community driven service. Amelia’s Closet serves not only as a natural extension of this mission driven work, but also as a response to the community’s needs.
In 2022, just a year after Pastor Amelia’s passing, Pastor Alex’s close friend Pastor Bob Novack shared an idea of opening a closet and pantry to serve the community year-round and honor Pastor Alex and Amelia’s commitment to the Church’s mission through tangible acts of service. In 2025, Amelia’s Closet came to life. Pastor Bob and a team from Life Church came for a week and worked to convert two dedicated closet spaces in the church’s building: one dedicated to holding clothing donations, another dedicated to pantry goods. Since opening Amelia’s Closet, the church has been able to provide regular access for those in need to everyday necessities by holding donations of clothing, accessories, frozen and fresh foods, and other pantry staples.

The closet accepts and provides gently used clothing for men, women, and children while the pantry accepts and provides a variety of fresh, frozen, and preserved foods and pantry staples.

FAQ
Where is Amelia Closet Located and where can I bring donations?
Amelia’s Closet is located inside the Oasis City Church at 5248 N 5th Street, Philadelphia PA 19120. Entrance is through the building’s side door. Donations can be brought directly to the childcare center, Oasis Development and Learning Center (Fisher entrance) Tuesday, Wednesdays, and Fridays 9am – 5pm.
What type of donations are accepted
Amelia’s Closet accepts men’s, women’s, and children’s apparel and accessories in good, clean condition.
This includes but not limited to items such as:
- Sweaters
- Blouses
- Dresses
- Pants
- Skirts
- Jeans
- Outerwear
- Kid’s clothing and onesies
And accessories such as:
- Belts
- Ties
- Handbags
- Footwear
- Jewelry
- Cold weather items
New, unopened, unused socks, undergarments, and diapers for infants, toddlers, or adults are also accepted.
Accepted pantry items include:
- Fresh and frozen foods
- Preserved or canned goods
- Pantry staples (such as cooking oils, milk, and butter)
- New, unopened spices, coffee, or teas
We DO NOT accept used or dirty undergarments and socks, excessively worn or distressed items, electronics, toys, books, or large household items such as furniture, tableware, or décor or expired food items.

When can community members visit amelia's closet to pick up household necessities?
If you are an individual in need or assisting an individual in need, please visit Amelia’s Closet located at 5248 N 5th Street, Philadelphia PA 19120 on June 4th & 18th, July 2nd & 16th, Aug 6th & 20th from 5-7 PM to select from our donation inventory. Entrance is through the building’s side door. Fall dates will be posted in August.
Does it cost anything to pick up items from the closet or food pantry?
All items available through Amelia’s Closet are free of charge. For those who can afford to do so, we do welcome monetary donations for items received. Such donations go directly back to supporting outreach and operations at Amelia’s Closet.
are kids welcome?
Children and youth (under 18 years old) are welcome, but must be supervised by a responsible, adult guardian that is 18 years or older while on property. A children’s table will be available for entertainment. Any children utilizing the table must be supervised by a responsible, adult guardian that is 18 years or older.
